He gave the assurance on Wednesday when he led members of Bauchi State University Governing Council to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TET fund) corporate headquarters in Abuja, on a courtesy visit.
The governor said he was in the establishment to inform the management that? a new university had been established in the state.
“We are also here to present you with the enabling document backing the existence of this institution so that the institution could benefit from your intervention funds,’’ he said.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of TET fund,? Prof. Mahmood Yakubu,? applauded the governor for identifying with the rank of states with a university.
He advised the governor to appoint credible personnel to run the affairs of the institution irrespective of their background.
“I commend you for establishing a broad-based university and I want to add that for an institution to excel it should remain focused,’’ he said.
Yakubu also urged the governing board to be mindful of the courses being offered to the students, adding that Bauchi is an agrarian state and the region is educationally backward, advising that academic activities should commence immediately.
