The governorship candidate of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) for the February 25, ballots in Cross River State, Mr. Patrick Akomiso, has promised to reclaim the oil-rich Bakassi ceded to Cameroun in 2008 in eighteen months of his administration or resign if elected.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY over the weekend, Akomiso equally took the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to task over the latter’s release of election time tables.
The aspirant argued that INEC’s election timelines in the four states arising from the Supreme Court judgment violates constitutional election procedures.
Cross River is among five states which did not hold governorship election in April 2011, because of a court ruling that extended the tenure of the incumbents.
Outlining further his agenda for the state if elected, Akomiso promised in parts, improved working conditions and pay for the state’s civil servants – N20,000 minimum wage while a bonus of N25,000 will be paid to the workers at the end of every year. In relation, he promised 300,000 jobs will be created in 24 months.
