Jigawa State government has approved the construction of solar powered water scheme in 40 towns across the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.
However, the State Small Town Water supply Agency, in collaboration with the office of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), is to provide additional solar powered water scheme to 36 towns.
The Managing Director of Small Town Water Supply Agency- (STOWA), Engineer Aliyu Umar, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Dutse, the State capital, said that the projects was already in the 2012 budget.
He said that 35 additional boreholes would be drilled in various water pump houses in some selected small towns across the State.
Umar explained that 14 small towns’ water pump houses would be connected to the National grid while 25 water generators would be replaced with new ones at some designated towns.
