Enugu State Government? and the State House of Assembly have indicated interest to intervene in the crisis between the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and 544 students? that were expelled last week by? the institution for allegedly gaining admission into the institution illegally.
The state commissioner for education, Dr. Simon Ortuanya, who spoke yesterday in a telephone interview,? stated that his ministry would wade in and see whether the complaints of those affected were genuine .
Also reacting to the development, the chairman of the? Education Committee of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Onyeze, explained that the assembly was in the process of trying to find out what happened.
Meanwhile about 190 final year students who have already written their degree examinations and are waiting? to defend their projects told our correspondent yesterday that there was nothing illegal in the way they gained admission into the school.
