The Vice President, Arch. Namadi Sambo, in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has launched a special youth empowerment training programme for 200 youths in Kaduna State.
Sambo, while declaring the programme open said that the effort was to refocus the mindset of the Nigerian youths and encourage them to embrace self-employment as a sustainable means of livelihood.
Represented at the occasion by Hon. Kabir Balla,? Goodluck/Sambo Coordinator, Kaduna State, Vice President Sambo said that the effort was in line with the Federal Government’s transformation agenda of reducing unemployment in the country.
He said, “This collaboration in providing special training for the unemployed graduates, artisans and school leavers in Kaduna State will reduce the level of unemployment in the state and positively transform the lives of all the beneficiaries of this programme.”
“I will like to urge the beneficiaries of the programme to take full advantage of the training and the resettlement package which I understand would be disbursed at the end of the training,” Sambo stated.
Earlier in his keynote address, the Director-General of the NDE, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, reiterated that over the past twenty five years of the existence of the directorate, through the support of the Federal Government and collaborating agencies it have continued to vigorously tackle the problem of unemployment through its programmes aimed at skills development, job generation and wealth creation.
