President Goodluck Jonathan has said that communication is a? vital tool for the economic development of Nigeria.
Jonathan said this during the public presentation and launch of a book “The President Explains”, a compendium of activities and policies of the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) yesterday in Abuja.
The president, represented by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku said? the government would continue to invest in the communication industry.
He said, “As a government we will continue to invest in the development of? democracy,? especially the communication industry which serves as the main medium for a free flow of information between the people and the government.”
Earlier? in his address, the Director-General, FRCN, Barr. Yusuf Nuhu said the book was a compendium of a popular monthly radio programme with Obasanjo which ran from 1999 to 2007, during which he had the opportunity to interface with the populace.
“In our resolve to boost the knowledge base of our country, and being the custodian of the peoples’ right to know, Radio Nigeria collaborated with Sola Ojewusi and Associates, to publish The President Explains.”
