AC Milan, Juventus In Battle For Supremacy

The two most successful clubs in the history of the Italian Serie A, Juventus and AC Milan will clash tonight in the San Siro, in the top of the table clash. For some reason, the clash between Juventus and AC Milan has been relegated to the background for some time now.

But in this season, the two Serie A giants have found themselves in contention for the league’s title. In their last 38 meetings, Juventus had the upper hand with 15 wins to Milan’s 11 and 12 draws.

Both teams have 45 league titles between them. In the Copa Italia, a fortnight ago, Juventus defeated Milan 2-1 and will be hoping for a similar score line tonight.

Juventus with 27 league titles was the dominant force in Serie A and Europe in the late 90’s winning the Champions League in 1996 but the Calciopoli scandal in 2006 saw them relegated to the Serie B. They bounced back immediately but failed to consolidate as the force they once were.

And with the appointment of former player Antonio Conte this season things have been looking good for the Turin giants. They also bought former Milan playmaker Andres Pirlo who is set to make an emotional return to the San Siro where he weaved his magic for 10 seasons.

Last week, Juventus won 3-1 to maintain their push for the league title and have been the only undefeated team in the league this season. They have drawn 10 games already this term but will have their hands full against a resurgent Milan who thrashed Arsenal 4-0 in the Champions League and won 3-1 last weekend in the Italian League.?

Juventus is a point behind Milan but have a game in hand and the winner of this encounter will have a psychological advantage in the remaining fixtures of the year.

Defending champions AC Milan started the season slowly but some good results have seen them bounce back in the league’s contention.

They will miss influential striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for this encounter as he is still serving a three match ban. Things are looking good for the Rosonneri this season as they are one foot in the quarter final of the Champion League and are top of the Serie A. T

he last time they conquered Europe was in 2007. They are considered one of the favourite this season. Things are lining up for Milan and this looks like it could be one of the best years the club has seen in a while.

Milan midfielder Kevin Boateng who scored a wonder goal against Arsenal in the Champions League is a doubt for tonight’s tie. Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is of the belief tonight’s game could prove to be decisive in the title race.

“We are happy to be top of the table again, even if we have played one more game than Juventus. The game against Juventus could be decisive and I expect it to be a fascinating match.

We have an entire week to prepare for the big game and I am confident that we will put in a great performance. If Zlatan Ibrahimovic is available, he will play. If not, we will find
