Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde has expressed concern over cases of blackmail against operatives of the anti-graft agency by perceived antagonists, even as he said that operatives of the agency had been attacked at various times in the line of duty.
Lamorde disclosed this while addressing officers of the Advance Defence Intelligence Course who paid him a courtesy call from the Defence Intelligence School, Karu.
He noted that despite the modest achievements made by the anti-graft agency in recent times, the EFCC was still being dogged by slow criminal justice system, institutional and legal bottlenecks.
The EFCC chairman, who stressed the crucial role of the commission in instilling social, economic and political stability in the country, pointed out that the commission would continue to do its job without fear or favour.
He also reiterated the contributions of the commission to government’s reform agenda, just as he remarked that the commission had modestly contributed to saving the nation from being a failed state.
