The Director-General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has called on all Northern governors to contribute towards the revival of one of the region’s oldest tabloids, the New Nigeria Newspapers (NNN).
Runsewe, who was once the general manager of the NNN, dismissed calls by unions of the NNN on the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu to resign on grounds that the newspaper went under on his watch.
In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY yesterday, Runsewe said the NNN needed a creative life line and a “seed fund” from the region’s governors to give the print medium a boost.
He said, “The change at the NNN has to be far-reaching and must reflect the changing realities of not only the dynamism in the Nigerian polity and economic landscape, but all through the newspaper industry management.
