Governor Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa state,? is yet to purchase official vehicles to run the affairs of government in the state.
Al-makura, of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), wrested power from the former governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in April 2011 and was sworn in as governor on May 29th, same year. Ten months after taking office the governor and his aides are still using their personal cars for official function.
LEADERSHIP investigations revealed that, since the present administration in Nasarawa state came into office, the government could not purchase new cars for the governor, his deputy, members of the state House of Assembly, commissioners, permanent secretaries and special advisers.
Our investigation shows that the governor, his deputy and some of the political appointees and members of the state assembly, uses their personal cars for official work.
Investigation further revealed that some of the cars on the convoy of the governor and his deputy, were bought? during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Adamu, the first executive governor of? the state and they are old to the extent that they always break down on the roads, while on convoy.
For instance, on Tuesday last week, the engine of pilot one vehicle on the convoy of the deputy governor, broke down in Kadarko town, on their way to Makurdi, for the retreat organized for top government officials in the state.
Similarly?? the press vehicle on the convoy of the deputy governor, broke down a fortnight ago while going for an official function.
