Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State has stressed the need for fervent prayers as the weapon that will bring a lasting solution to the security challenges in? the country.
Dankwambo made the statement on Monday while inspecting the Gombe Division of the Nigeria Police which was bombed on Friday.
“like I always say, the only weapon we have today is prayers; this is a brand new thing, we don’t know about it, we don’t know how it happened.
“God has ordained that it will happen and it happened. We will continue to pray to God to have mercy on us.
“And like I always say, when we say we should pray, we should also take a step to check on ourselves too and ensure that while we are praying, we don’t plan evil against ourselves, against our neighbours and against our visitors,” the governor said.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, AIG Orubebe Ghandi, had briefed the governor about the incident, saying his men made frantic efforts to repel the attackers.
12 people were killed while five others sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.
