President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday described former president Shehu Shagari as an elder statesman who has never relented in making his wisdom and vast experience available to the country.
Jonathan, who made this comment while congratulating Shagari on his attainment of the age of 87, said that Nigeria has benefitted immensely from his selfless contributions.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President said, “Shagari’s exemplary support for peace and national development is commendable and worthy of emulation by all well-meaning citizens.”
??? He prayed for continued good health and long life for the former president.
