Determined to fast-track the development of the state, Lagos State Government has said that it has earmarked N58.7billion for the execution of 156 new projects across the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the state.
The Chairman of the State Tenders Board,(STD) Mrs. Florence Oguntuase, revealed this yesterday while briefing journalists in Lagos also emphasized that the move became necessary to tackle the problem of infrastructural decay in the state.
She who affirmed that the development was part of the government determination to provide dividends of democracy to the people, adding that 14 of the presented projects from MDAs did not get approval because of some issues which she said would be sought out soon.
“There were a number of other projects proposals which documentation and filling were not completed on time for consideration at the retreat and would Flanked by other members of the board? which includes , the Commissioner for Budget and Economic planning, Ben Akabueze, Commerce and Industry Sola Oworu, Works Obafemi Hamzat, science and Technology ,Adebiyi Mabadeje she said a total of 170 projects were presented to the board for considerations of which 156 from 15 Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) scale through.
She said the approved projects cut across sector such as road construction, housing, education, provision of water, agriculture, school Rehabilitation and rural Development, adding that? the road construction and rehabilitation will gulp 62.7 percent of the money.
