Vice President Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo has reiterated federal government’s determination to end the menace of terrorism in the country. He therefore, urged all Nigerians to be part of the efforts to combat this new trend of criminality in the country.
He also condemned the activities of Boko Haram and other groups using terrorism as a method of expressing grievances.
Namadi Sambo who stated this in Jos, the Plateau State capital yesterday while inaugurating the senior executive course 34 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies ( NIPSS) Kuru added that it could not also be used as a bargaining chip with government.
The Vice President who was represented by the Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Sali Bello, pointed out that, “you cannot be killing innocent citizens in places of worship and market in order to attract attention or compel dialogue”.
According to him, there are legitimate avenues and procedure to express one’s or groups grievances adding that Nigerians and indeed every one? living in this country have the legitimate right to live in peace and not under siege and in fear.
He stressed that federal government was determined to terminate the menace of terrorism in the country while urging all Nigerians to be part of this effort.
Sambo disclosed that the central theme of this year’s study as approved by? President Goodluck Jonathan , “ Resources Diversification for Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria” was at the very heart of the federal government transformation agenda which involves rapid economic development, youth employment, eradication of mass poverty, infrastructural development and adequate power supply.
According to him, we must rescue ourselves from the dangerous stronghold of a mono economy and stressed? that what we need in our national interest, was to diversify our economy pointing out that successive governments have acknowledged the need for resource diversification.
