The former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, yesterday, reacted to the confiscation of his properties by the Ogun State Government and said the action was an assault on the rule of law.
Daniel in a statement issued in Abeokuta and signed by his media aide, Gbenro Adebanjo, said that the action was a brazen act of illegality as, a man could not be punished on an unproven allegation. He said that it was also more worrisome because the government carried out the ‘illegal’ act in flagrant disobedience to the judicial processes already ongoing.
It would be recalled that based on the allegations that State funds were used in the construction of two hotels allegedly owned by the former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, the Ogun State Government had revoked both Certificates of occupancy granted to Gateway Front .
