Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, yesterday, promised to collaborate with the Attorney General of Northern States in the proposal to sanction clerics who made inflammatory statements in the course of preaching.
Jang gave the assurance when National Assembly members from the state visited him at Government Lodge?? over Sunday’s? bomb explosion at COCIN headquarters in Jos.
Jang who commended the National Assembly members for their visit? pushed? for the creation of a state police as part of the means of arresting the spate of insecurity in the country.
In his words: “I want to take this opportunity to say that as you amend the constitution, Nigeria is ripe for the creation of state police considering the insecurity in the country. Those saying we are not mature for it need to look at the prevailing security situation in the country again”.
He said there was the need for the people of the state to close rank to prevent infiltration of elements bent on shattering the peace of? Plateau? State and added that with unity and common purpose, it would be difficult for the enemies to enter and wreck havoc.
Jang therefore commended the National Assembly members for their prompt response and concern for the state adding that they were worthy ambassadors of the State.
Senator Gyang Dantong representing Plateau North, in his remark said the explosion was a big shock to the people of the state considering the prevailing peace in the state before the incident and implored the people of the state to be security conscious.
