The Chairman of Kwali area council, Mr. Joseph Shazin has appealed to the National Assembly to provide legislation to review the revenue sharing formula in the country.
This he said is to ensure that more money comes to the local councils, to enable them carry out developmental projects, as they are the tier of government closes to the people.
Shazin, who was speaking while receiving members of the House of Representatives Committee on FCT area councils and ancillary matters, who visited the council for oversight function, commended the committee for the visit, saying it would spur him to do more.
Speaking earlier, the acting chairman of the committee, Alhaij Hamisu Mailantarki commended the council for the projects it had executed so far.
He said, “We are satisfied with the projects we have seen on ground in Kwali area council except for some cases especially road construction and rehabilitation that they may need some level of improvement.”
Mailantarki pledged the continuous support of the committee to ensure efficiency in local council administration in the FCT.
