PDP Will Entrench Internal Democracy At All Levels – Sen Balat

Sen Isaiah Balat, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, has said that the PDP was committed to entrenching internal democracy at all levels of its operations.

Balat said this in an interview with newsmen in Gora, Kaduna State, while reacting to the outcome of Saturday’s Ward congresses of the party. He described the exercise as “very successful” both in his ward and the entire state.

“Democracy belongs to the people and the PDP is now even more dedicated to giving the people what they want so as to deepen the process of participatory governance.”

He said that the congresses had offered the party members at the grassroots a chance to assess the performance of their officials.

The Special Adviser, a one-time Minister of Works and Housing, urged the PDP members to continue to be supportive of the federal and state governments’ programmes toward a better Nigeria.

Balat cautioned party members against envy, mischief, gossips and rumour mongering, stressing that such negative tendencies that could hurt the party.

He lauded the enthusiasm shown by the party members and called for more unity to strengthen the party’s electoral fortune.

He urged other political parties to emulate PDP’s commitment to internal democracy, saying that such approach was the only way to boost Nigerians’ confidence in the match toward a strong and virile democracy.
