The Kebbi Department of Fire Service recorded 34 incidents of fire outbreaks in Kebbi State within the last three months.
Alhaji Bello Zagga, the state Director of Fire Service, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He, however, said there were no loss of lives in the incidents.
The director said the usage of? inferior electrical cables were responsible for 90 per cent of the fire incidents while the remaining 10 per cent could be traced to? undue exposure of animal feeds to open fire.
Zagga said the department “would organize workshops to sensitise the public on preventive measures”.?
NAN reports that Kebbi recorded 138 different fire incidents last year, which had links with inferior electrical cables.
He said three new fire fighting vehicles with 5,000 liters of water capacity valued at N58.5 million, were procured by the state government for the department.
?”The vehicles would improve our services to the public”.
?Zagga advised the people against the use of inferior electrical cables and undue exposure of animal feeds and corn stalk to fire to avoid loss of lives and property.?? (NAN)
