A civil servant, Aishat Pedro, on Tuesday urged an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her 22-year-old loveless marriage.
Aishat, 46, had approached the court seeking the dissolution of her union with her husband, Amusa Pedro, a sales representative, citing desertion and lack of love.
“My husband has abandoned me and the five children for the past five years. Even when he was with us, he did not take care of us.
“I do everything including the education of the children. I am fed up; I want the marriage to be dissolved,” said Aishat, an employee of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
Pedro, 59, however, did not object to the pleas of his estranged wife on the marriage.
“Whatever she wants as regards the marriage is acceptable to me. The court should grant her wishes and dissolve the marriage,” he said.
The marriage is blessed with five children of between ages 20 and 7.
The president of the court, Alhaja Risikat Adesanya, therefore, fixed judgment for March 15.
