Chrome Group, one of the major players in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria, has acquired new anchor vessels for onshore-offshore and deep water oil and gas services.
The vessels were acquired through one of its subsidiaries, Kaztec Engineering Limited, an indigenous oil and gas service company.
The company said that the anchor vessels were valued at about $500million, and would complement the existing vessels in the kitty of Kaztec. These vessels were christened, Ekulo Explorer and Ekulo Spirit. The Chairman, Chrome Group, Emeka Offor, said that these utility vessels would be used for various purposes and were delivered to the company at the Calabar Port at the weekend.
?‘They can be used to store drilling and other materials and pipes for both onshore-offshore services. The Explorer is the bigger of the two with a capacity of 6,000 horsepower, while the Spirit is about 4,400HP. The vessels could be used to move barges as well as other materials like pipes, the Ekulo Cheyenne, run anchors and move around the fields,’ he said.
