In yet another drama, a mentally unstable man boarded the Associated Airline plane en route Akure to Abuja on Monday.
A similar incident was recorded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), when a mad man over the weekend also beat all security operatives and entered the tarmac of the airport and started shouting that he must be taken to Europe.
In an exclusive chat with LEADERSHIP, the former Commissioner of Environment, Ekiti State, Otunba Olusegun Olarewaju, said the passengers sensed the man was mentally unstable when he started ranting at the departure lounge.
“We sensed trouble when we were waiting to board the plane and the young man started ranting. He was shouting and talking that the president should come and prostrate for him, that Jesus came to Nigeria and? when he came, he went to Ekiti State and from there, now settled in his hometown, Ijaw Ekiti,” Olarewaju said.
He said the passengers promptly notified the airline operators that the mental stability of the man was in question and that he should not be allowed to fly with them, but the operators turned a deaf ear.
“They allowed the man to fly with us, endangering the lives of the 30 people on board probably because they do not want to refund the man’s money. We saw hell; that was the worst 45 minutes I have ever flown.
