Gov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue has assured Dr Bamanga Tukur, a National Chairmanship aspirant of the PDP, of block votes from the state.?
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the national convention of the party is scheduled to hold on March 24.?
Suswam gave the assurance on Monday, when Tukur paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Makurdi.?
The governor assured the aspirant that the state delegates would vote for him during the party's national convention slated for Abuja.?
Suswam told his guest that he was a trusted friend of the Benue people and had their support.?
“Benue delegates would give you their block votes because we trust your ability to deliver.”?
He stressed that the candidacy of Tukur was the right choice for the party.?
“With Tukur at the helm of affairs of our dear party, the problems that we experienced in the last election will become a thing of the past.?
“The incidence that happened in the last election would have been avoided if strong structures were in place,” he said.?
He explained that Tukur was capable of strengthening the party by correcting all the ills that weakened it, thereby, positioning it to reclaim its lost glory.?
Earlier, Tukur, who is also the President of Africa Business Round-table, said he was in the state “basically to solicit for support.’’?
Tukur said he was in the race because he intended to rebuild the collapsed structures of the party and strengthen them.?
He said he was committed to repositioning the party to meet the aspirations of Nigerians.?
Tukur harped on the need to win back the South West states that were lost to the other political parties in the last elections. (NAN)
