The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) on Monday in Lagos called on Nigerians to shun religious sentiments and regard the Boko Haram sect as a common enemy.
This, it said, would facilitate the eradication of the sect's menace.
Reacting to Sundays’ bombing of St Finbarrs Catholic Church, Jos, the AYCF President, Alhaji Yerimma Shettima, said that Christians and Muslims must join hands to fight “the terror group”.
Shettima was fielding questions from newsmen.
10 people lost their lives and 22 others seriously injured in two bomb attacks in churches in Jos on Sunday.
The Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the attacks
?”Only a collective action by Christians and Muslims can aid security operatives in fishing out the sect’s members.
?”The first challenge is for us to rise against religious sentiments and identify the sect as a common enemy.
“The Boko Haram sect is evil and must be seen as evil brought in to divide the nation, if allowed,” he said.
The attack on St. Finbarr's Church was the second in a church in the past two weeks.
A car carrying explosives rammed into the premises of the Church of Christ in Nigeria headquarters also in Jos on Feb. 26. At least, three people lost their lives to the attack.
In Dec., 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in some areas of Northern Nigeria, following bombings by the sect, including that of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State on Christmas Day.
