Two middle-aged suspects on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court over the alleged kidnap of a 54-year-old woman.
The defendants, 39-year-old Elizabeth Adeluola and Larry Eguzo, 45, were arraigned on a 12-count charge, including conspiracy, felony, stealing, kidnapping and fraud.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong, alleged that the accused kidnapped one Mrs Blessing Dede on Aug. 2, 2011 at Oshodi, to an unknown place, without her consent.
Effiong alleged that the defendants demanded N1.2 million from the family for her release.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants threatened to kill the woman if the money was not released to them.
Effiong said that the offence contravened Sections 270, 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Chief Magistrate Adesola Ikpatt granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each, in like sum.
She adjourned the case to April 30, for mention.?
