The chief of Anagada community, Gwagwalada area council, Alhassan Musa Dakachin has applauded the Fadama III project in the area, describing it as a life saver for the people of the community.
Dakachin, who spoke during a visit of the World Bank team to the area said the Fadama III project had improves the lives of the people in the area, as several residents had been directly or indirectly employed through the project.
“The project has boosted us in agriculture and other fields and has helped us economically. The women, the men and youth have been gainfully employed. Everybody has a duty to play here,’’ he said.
Also speaking the World Bank Nigeria, tasks team leader of the Fadama III project, Dr Abimbola Adubi promised to continue to support the community.
In her remarks, a monitoring and evaluation officer with the World Bank team, Toyin Jagha, stated that the type of sub-projects she had witnessed in the community show that the Fadama project had changed the lives of the beneficiaries and added that it was a fete the government should emulate.
She said, “If what we are seeing In Anagada is a reflection of what is happening in Federal Capital Territory, we are actually on our way to alleviating poverty in the lives of Nigerians. The project is highly innovative. The beneficiaries themselves have attested that their lives have changed and they are making more income and now have a better livelihood. The government and the banks have a lot to learn when it comes to Fadama.”
