The chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Gwagwalada, Archbishop Chiwendu Nwoha has advocated enhanced police-community relations to ensure adequate protection of life and property in Gwagwalada.
Speaking at the official launch of the first edition of the committee’s almanac in Gwagwalada, Nwoha said a fruitful relationship between the police and society was essential if crime must be combated to the minimum in the country.
He lamented that Gwagwalada with a huge population had only one outdated Mazda patrol van adding that there could not be effective policing where officers could not even respond to distress calls because they lacked communication gadgets.
He commended the outgoing DPO of the division, CSP Charles Mozie for the courage he demonstrated in fighting crime in Gwagwalada despite unfavorable conditions he had met.
LEADERSHIP gathered that about 100 vigilante groups had been recruited to help ensure the protection of lives and property in Gwagwalada and environs.
