No fewer than six persons were yesterday admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Ado Ekiti, and 14 others receiving? treatments as a result of the various degrees of injuries they sustained,? as members of Motorcycles Riders Associations in the state, engage themselves in a free for all fight.
Trouble began, when a motorcycle rider refused to tender the particulars of the motorcycle he was riding as demanded? for by an officer of the union, Mr. Femi Owoeye. He was also said to have kicked against the payment of the approved due of N30 and N20 respectively payable by all registered members of the association? to the Union officials and the local government.
According to the Chairman of the Okada Riders in the state, Mr. Ademo Olu Martins,? the motorbike rider who refused tendering his particulars called on his people who came with dangerous weapons which include bows and arrows, cutlasses and spears which were freely used by the people who were alleged to be of Hausa descent.
The union leader who alleged that the attack was predetermined said the union had earlier notified the Hausa Community on 4, February 2012 through the Serikin Hausawa to liaise with the union .
The union leader however said he could not ascertain the number of people that sustained injuries.
