Seven-time African champions Egypt want to play Nigeria in a friendly next month. Spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire revealed that they have received a request from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) for a friendly against the Super Eagles.
“I can confirm that we have received a request from the Egyptian Football Association for a game with the Eagles next month. But the general secretary is still studying the request and we would communicate the Egyptian FA.”
On the possible date for the game, Olajire said, “The Egyptians have requested for next month, so we will look at the request and agree on a date.”
In 2010, the Pharaohs beat Nigeria 3-1 in a group game in Benguela on their way to winning a record seventh Nations Cup title in Angola.
They are now under the guidance of former USA coach Bob Bradley after Hassan Shehata quit following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Eagles are already billed to play Peru in a friendly in Lima on May 23 preparatory to a busy June, when they are scheduled to play three competitive games against Namibia, Malawi and Rwanda.
