The Chairman, House Committee on Steel Development, Hon. Sadiq Asema Mohammed has said that only $513 million( US) was required to complete the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
The chairman who fielded questions from Journalists at a stakeholder’s workshop on Metallurgical Bill and Manual in Abuja, yesterday, said: “When the privatisation of Ajaokuta was reversed after the House passed a resolution, we thought government would provide the money for the Nigerian people to develop that place.”
He maintained that a developed country was one which had over 60 percent metallurgical and steel development and added that, “with only?? $513 million( US)? which is just about N83 billion the project will be completed.
