Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, Chairman, Bamanga Tukur Campaign Organisation, said on Friday that the election of? national chairman of? the PDP rested on delegates to Saturday’s convention of the party.
He stated this? at a dinner Abuja while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the North East congress of the party.
The North East caucus of the PDP, had endorsed the acting National Secretary of the party, Dr Musa Babayo from Bauchi State for the position of national chairman.
The endorsement of Babayo, who scored 14 votes to beat Bamanga Tukur who scored two votes, was announced on Wednesday at the North East zonal congress of the party held in Bauchi.
Mantu said that only 22 persons out of the expected 800 delegates allegedly decided the issue, adding that the decision has no effect on the ambition of Bamanga Tukur to become the PDP national chairman.
Meanwhile, a dinner in honour of Bamanga Tukur was organised on Thursday in Abuja
The dinner entitled; “ An Evening with Bamanga Tukur’’ was? attended by supporters of the PDP chairmanship aspirant.
Prof. Jerry Gana, described Tukur as a man of? integrity and courage, well fitted for the position of? PDP national chairman.
