There was a mild drama at the Gombe State University centre of the JAMB? examinations on Saturday when a candidate, Ahmad Usman, suddenly developed fever few minutes into the examination.
A Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Usman, who arrived at the venue of the examinations with some of his friends at the university, told officials of JAMB and invigilators that he was sick.
Usman pleaded with the officials to allow his elder brother to write the examination for him.
Visibly amazed by this development, the officials of JAMB burst into laughter and started asking him questions.
Usman said that he left Kumo town in Akko Council Area early in the morning, hale and hearty, but started vomiting shortly on arrival at the university and was not strong enough to write the examination.
Asked if he had ever written the JAMB examination, he said that was his third time and the officials apparently concluded it was an “examination fever”.
The JAMB officials told his friends to give him some drinks and counsel him.
One of his friends immediately rushed and bought him two bottles of ‘soft drinks’ and after 15 minutes of counselling and encouragement, Usman picked up some strength and signified his intention to write the examination.
However, he was allowed to go into the hall to write the examination.
When Usman entered the hall, it took him some minutes to sharpen his pencil and thereafter prayed for about a minute before he started writing.
NAN reports that all the 540 candidates of the centre were present for the examination.?
