There are strong indications that the executive governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko may dump the Labour Party (LP) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as moves are in top gear to woo him back to the party.
President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator David Mark and the governor of Niger State, Dr.Muazu Babangida Aliyu, have made passionate appeals to the Ondo governor to put the past behind him and return to the ruling party.
The duo stated this yesterday night during The Nigerian Tribune’s 2011 Men of the Year Award, held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.
“Mimiko is a founding member of the PDP and contributed immensely to its growth. I am appealing to you to put the deeds of the past behind and return to the fold,” Mark said.
“We recall that Governor Mimiko was a secretary to the Ondo State government, a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria before resigning from his former party, the PDP when his desire to offer himself for the service of his people suffered initial setback. I am making an appeal to you to return back to your own party, which you built,’’ Governor Aliyu said.
