A group of artisans in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, have expressed worry over the epileptic power supply in the town, saying it was affecting their businesses.
The artisans who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ijebu-Ode on Monday appealed to Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to urgently find a lasting solution to the problem.
The artisans also said that as a result of the power outage, their businesses were at the verge of collapse.
They cautioned that if the problem of power shortage was not resolved on time, they might be forced out of business soon.
?The artisans, however, appealed to the management of PHCN to pay attention to all the faulty transformers, which was the major power supply in the town.
?Mrs Tinuola Akindele, a hairdresser, who spoke with NAN, described the epileptic power supply in the town as “age long problem which needed urgent attention. ’’
?Akindele, who claimed to be spending N2,000 per week to fuel her generator for business, said she hardly made any profit after buying the fuel.
?She noted that the metre installed by the PHCN in her shop was just a “mere decoration“ as it does not generate electricity.
?“ Due to the nature of my business, I need electricity to power my equipment to enable me attend to my customers but the electricity is not regular.
?“ As a result of this poor power supply, l spend average of N2, 000 to power my fuel in a week which is affecting my profit.
?“The most annoying part is that at the end of the month PHCN will still bring bill for me to pay for the electricity I did not consumed.“
?Akindele, however, appealed to PHCN to as a matter of urgency find solution to the problem.
?In her reactions, Mr Kunle Ibiwoye, a welder, said that the problem of epileptic power supply was having negative impact on his business.
?Ibiwoye, explained that he spend average of N3, 000 to power his generator to keep his business running.
?“If nothing is done about the electricity problem in the town, I might be forced out of business in no time.
?“I spend almost on my profit to buy fuel to satisfy my customers because I don’t want to lose them.
?“I make more profit whenever I use PHCN supply and I pay my bill regularly but the power supply in the last one month is becoming worrisome.“
?Ibiwoye, however, appealed to the management of PHCN to find a solution to the problem.
