Mark, Tambuwal, Governors’ Forum Laud New PDP NWC

Following the outcome of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, last Saturday’ national convention which threw up Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as the party’s national? chairman, notable politicians from within and outside the party have continued to react.

The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark charged the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur-led National Working Committee (NWC), of the party, to urgently return discipline and unity to PDP in order to be result-oriented.

Senator Mark in a congratulatory message to the new leadership of the party yesterday in Abuja emphasised the immediate need to begin the process of building brigades of understanding that would necessitate the peace and unity most desired now before the forthcoming elections.

The senator stated that, “even though we achieved consensus in virtually all the positions, we cannot totally rule out that some of our members may have been dissatisfied one way or the other. It is therefore incumbent on the new leadership to begin the process of fence mending, so that everybody is carried along.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, while also congratulating Alhaji Tukur and other national officers elected at the party’s national convention said their emergence signals a new beginning for Africa’s largest political party.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Hon. Tambuwal urged all members of the party to seize the opportunity to rally round those elected in order to put the party on the path of reconciliation.

Also, the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) have hailed the peaceful conduct of the election of members of the PDP NWC.

?Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu applauded the consensus arrangement under which the new NWC emerged.

In a related statement, minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed said the emergence of Alhaji Tukur was a very positive development.
