National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) has said that three entrepreneurs that passed out of its centre in Kano have won awards from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The apex bank gave the three entrepreneurs the sum of N900, 000 for their various contributions to boosting small and medium enterprises sector of the country’s economy.
The award was put in place? to recognize aspiring small and medium entrepreneurs in the country.
?A statement from NBTI, signed by its public relation officer, Mr. Uthman Abubakar said the entrepreneurs recognized include Messrs Aminch Shoes, Messrs Agritech General Enterprises and Messrs Tendency Technical Services.
They were handed over the award money ranging from N400,000, N250,000 and N250,000 respectively.
Messrs Aminchi Shoes, involved in leather shoes and sandals production, was admitted at the TIC, Kano, in 1997 with a record of community service through training of youths and direct jobs creation as well as establishing dealers and sub-dealers across West Africa.
?Aminchi Shoes export their products to Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Chad and Senegal.
For Agritech General Enterprises, admitted in the centre in 2007, fabrication of improved Avian Incubator is their key activity.
The statement revealed that the entrepreneur also render community service by training a total of 3477 youths, women and retirees in hatcheries operation/poultry management, apart from facilitating the establishment of cottage industries, dealers and sub-dealers which culminated in the formation of the first Quail Sellers Association in the country.
Messrs Tendency Technical, according to the statement, joined the TIC, Kano in 2001 and deals on design and fabrication of agro-allied machineries and equipment, including oil extraction machine.
NBTI? is Nigeria's central agency supporting small business development. The office serves to help new companies begin operations in Nigeria by linking management, financial capital, technology, labour and resources to build commerce. The agency manages more than 10 technology incubation centres in Nigeria.
