The State Security Service (SSS) on Tuesday in Lagos announced the arrest of six persons in connection with the alleged production of fake vehicle licences.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the SSS headquarters at Magodo, the State Director, Mr Achu Olayi, said they were arrested at their hideout at 18, Herbert Macaulay St., Yaba.
“Through intelligence report and sustained monitoring, we were able to apprehend the suspects, who specialise in producing fake vehicle licences and committing other criminal activities,” he said.
Olayi said items recovered from them included a computer printer, generator, fake motorcycle number plates, driver licences, Lagos State vehicle licence payment cards and a laptop.
According to the SSS chief, the suspects have made some “useful statements’’ which will assist his men to track down other members of the gang who are still at large.
Olayi said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
?“We urge Nigerians to desist from acts capable of giving the country a negative image.
“We also appeal to Nigerians to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by giving information that could assist in securing Nigeria.
“Any information given will be treated as confidential,” the SSS boss promised.
