INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega says the commission has concluded arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of Saturday’s governorship election rerun in? Kebbi.?
Jega, who disclosed this at a meeting with stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, said sensitive materials were in the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the state.???
He said all non-sensitive election materials had been distributed to all local government areas, adding that electoral officers, supervisory presiding officer,NYSC members, collation and returning officers had been trained.???
“The commission has mobilised six national commissioners to monitor and ensure that the election is hitch-free and in conformity with the Electoral Act.’’
Jega said that other administrative and logistic arrangements had been concluded, and advised aspirants and political parties to discourage violation of the Electoral Act to avoid prosecution.???
He told the political parties to advise their supporters who had lost their cards to stay away from the polling units.
The INEC chairman commended political parties and their candidates for supporting the commission’s bid to conduct a smooth, free and fair election.
The 15 political parties have fielded candidates for the election.?
