President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the Kebbi State Governor-elect, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari of PDP , on his overwhelming victory in Saturday's re-run governorship election.
The congratulatory message is contained in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben abati.
Jonathan, according to the statement, thanked old and returning members of the PDP in Kebbi for heeding calls by the party leadership for reconciliation and unity.
He also thanked them for working together to ensure that the party’s flagbearer, Dakingari, won overwhelmingly Saturday’s election.
The president urged Dakingari to do his utmost best to ensure that the Kebbi State people who gave him and the PDP a landslide victory were rewarded with an effective and efficient administration.
He also charged the governor-elect to ensure that he delivered good governance and rapid development in the state.
The president assured Dakingari that the efforts of his incoming administration to continuously improve the living conditions of the people of the state would receive?the support and assistance of the Federal Government
.
He commended voters in the state, INEC and its personnel as well as security agencies for playing their part to ensure that the re-run election, ordered by the Supreme Court, was peacefully and successfully conducted.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that PDP won governorship re-run election with 875,492 votes beating CPC which polled 17,918 and ACN with 4,555 votes to second and third places. (NAN)
