Ogun State government has appointed a panel to look into the lingering chieftaincy crisis in Ado- Odo/ Ota Local Government Area of the State.
As part of the State Government efforts at resolving the chieftaincy dispute over the selection of the right candidate to fill the vacant? Onikoko stool, the state government has appointed Alhaji Fatai Olayiwola Ogunlana, Director of Administration and Supplies in Civil Service Commission ?to inquire into the causes of the? dispute over the selection of the rightful candidate to fill the vacant stool of Onikoko of Koko – Ebiye community.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Basorun Muyiwa Oladipo, while inaugurating? Alhaji Fatai Olayiwola Ogunlana and Mrs. Bose Olaniyan, Principal Administrative Officer in the Bureau of Establishment and Training as the Secretary of the panel said the appointment became imperative as the present administration had resolved to do all? the needful to prevent any break down of law and order.
He told the panel to be thorough, dedicated and unbiased in the discharge of the assigned duty in the community. While listing some of the terms of reference, the Commissioner charged the panel to endeavour to work in accordance with the terms of reference of the panel to resolve the dispute.
He said the body should determine the number of existing Ruling Houses and the traditional order of rotation. They were charged to identify the kingmakers and determine their number as well as to identify other related issues that would finally put an end to the crisis.
