The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order said it killed two suspected members of Boko Haram sect in Maiduguri on Sunday during a shoot-out.
Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa said in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Sunday that the incident happened around the Vita Form Company Bayern quarters in Maiduguri.
“The JTF has killed two Boko Haram terrorists around Vita Foam Company Bayern quarters in Maiduguri at about 1200 hours.
“The incident happened when the JTF troops heard sporadic gun shots from the area and moved to ascertain what was going on.”
Musa added that on sighting soldiers the suspects started shooting at them leading to a gun duel.
“On sighting the troops they shot at them leading to exchange of fire which killed the two suspects.
“One Dane gun, an AK 47 rifle, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two Nokia phone handsets were recovered.”
He said that the JTF did not suffer any casualty in the operation.
He also confirmed the killing of the caretaker chairman of Chibok Local Government Area, Mr Wanangu Kachuwa, by gunmen in the afternoon.
