The branch controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Kaduna, Alhaji Mohammed Gusau at the weekend said that Kaduna State was lagging behind in reaping the benefits of viable economic development programmes of the federal government, particularly the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme (ACGS).
In his Speech at the dinner and award night 2011 of the Kaduna Bankers Committee, Gusau called on the state government to take advantage of the various economic and development programmes being initiated by the federal government in the state to better the living condition of the people.
According to him, “statistics have shown that the state is left behind in reaping the benefits of viable economic development programmes such as the ACGS, the Microfinance and Micro fund Policy Programmes, the Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme (CACS) as well as the N50 billion Agricultural Credit Support Scheme.”
He appealed to Governor Patrick Yakowa to utilize the opportunity provided by the selection of Kaduna State as one of the pilot states for the implementation of the Nigerian Incentive-Based risk System sharing for agricultural lending (NISRAL) for the development and expansion of maize, ginger and soya beans production in the state.
