Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) maintained the downward trend on Monday with prices of some highly capitalised equities sliding.
The All-Share Index, which opened at 20,652.47, dropped by 1.52 points or 0.007 per cent to close at 20,650.95.
The market capitalisation also depreciated by 0.007 per cent to close at N6.54 trillion from the N6.55trillion recorded on Friday.
Nestle led the price losers’ chart with a loss of N17.20 to close at N400 per share.
Oando trailed with a loss of N1.01 to close at N21per share, while NCR dropped 68k to close at N13.01 per share.
Cadbury depreciated by 63k to close at N12.01 per share, while First Bank lost 50k to close at N9.53 per share.
On the other hand, New Gold recorded the highest price gain of N28to close at N2,568 per unit.
Mobil followed with a gain of N6.63to close at N139.30 per share, while Dangote Cement rose by N1.70 to close at N115.50 per share.
OkomuOil grew by N1.40 to close at N29.41 per share, while Unilever chalked up N1 to close at N31 per share.
A total of 223.91 million shares worth N1.49 billion were traded in 3,698 deals on Monday against 308.90 million shares valued N2.25 billion exchanged in 3,384 deals on Friday.
The banking sub-sector remained the toast of investors with 146.92 million shares worth N871.87 million exchanged in 2,078 deals.
Diamond Bank drove activities in the sector, exchanging 41.79 million shares worth N96.95 in 52 deals.
GTBsold 19.09 million shares worth N261.74 million in 572 deals.
