Barely 24 hours after an explosion rocked Ungwan Muazu area of Kaduna metropolis killing a man suspected to have been in possession of the explosive, unknown gunmen on Sunday night stormed Rigasa Community in Kaduna metropolis, killing an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Salisu Ahmed and a senior lecturer with Kaduna Polytechnic Alhaji Muhammad Abdulsalam Abubakar.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the senior police officer and the lecturer were shot dead by the gunmen in separate attacks at their residences situated at Dan-Madami road, area of Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar who confirmed the story to LEADERSHIP said, “Yes, we are mourning their death, it’s a guerilla kind of attack. When they attack, they varnish, we are on a manhunt of them. They adopted the guerilla style of operation.
“Somebody who leaves in his personal house, they trailed him, connived and killed him, and the people of the area saw them and they could not raise an alarm.”
Narrating the story to LEADERSHIP, a house help to the killed police officer, Malam Abdullahi said the hoodlums came into the house as armed robbers and shot at the police officer.
“They came inside the house with weapons and said we were under arrest. I quickly ran away to a neighborhood. After I ran out, I had a gun shot again in the house, and came back again to discover that the police officer had been killed. We took him to the police headquarters in Rigasa, from where they took him to 44 Army Reference.”
Also confirming the death of the lecturer, the senior brother of the deceased, Alhaji Mahmood Abdulsalam, a former Chief Registrar of Kaduna Polytechnic said, “My brother was shot after the evening prayers; when he left the mosque and went back his resident.
