KIDNAPPING: Police Warn Against Payment Of Ransom

The Enugu State Police Command have warned against payment of ransom to kidnappers in the state and advised residents of the state to always report kidnap cases to security operatives promptly.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP? yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ebere Amaraizu said swift report of cases and nonpayment of ransom would put security agencies on a vantage position to track down kidnappers and their activities.

Amaraizu warned that henceforth, hoteliers, who allow their hotels to be used as a hiding place for kidnappers and perpetrators of other crimes in the state, would face the full wrath of the law.

The Enugu Police Spokesman, advised hoteliers to use their internal security mechanism to scrutinize those that indicate interest to lodge in their hotels in order to avoid the full wrath of the law.

He stressed the need for hotels to have proper documentation of the identities of their guests and advised them to report to the police whenever they suspect the movement of their guests.

Amaraizu also appealed to hoteliers and residents of the Coal City to always divulge useful information that would help the police to contain kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

Commenting on the teenager that was recently rescued in the state from her abductors by the police, Amaraizu regretted that the kidnap victim, Princess Uzoamaka Attah was kept in a hotel in the state and reiterated his appeal to hoteliers in the state to monitor the activities of the guests.

He, however, assured residents of the Coal City State that there was no cause for alarm, stating? that the police was on top of security challenges in the state.
