The Sokoto State Government has earmarked N1 billion for the construction of three boarding primary schools in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, made this known in Sokoto on Wednesday, while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.
He put the cost of each school at N303 million, adding that it would be spread across the three senatorial zones in the state.
The commissioner said that a school would be located at Kware Local Government Area for??Sokoto Central Zone;? Shagari Local Government Area? ?for??Sokoto West Zone and??Illela for Sokoto East Senatorial Zone.
Aliyu said that already 30 per cent down payment for the contract had been approved, while the completion period is one year.
Also the council?approved the release of N1.9 million for the first phase of furnishing and construction of additional structure at the state university.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Anladi Bako, who witnessed the briefing, restated administration’s commitment to ensure quality education. (NAN)
