Chief Whip Warns Leaders Against Playing Politics With Lives Of Nigerians

As Christians mark Easter, Mr Tim Golu, Chief Whip, Plateau House of Assembly, on Saturday warned the country's leaders against playing politics with the lives of citizens.

“Nigerian leaders must refrain from hypocrisy and love the governed sincerely and from their hearts.

“Leaders must avoid the temptation to play politics with the lives and Nigerians and the existence of the nation.

“The country belongs to all of us and must be placed above every other consideration,’’ Golu said in Jos in an Easter message.

The Chief Whip cautioned those in authority against greed, selfishness, anger and malice, and stressed the need for forgiveness, love, tolerance and respect for each others’ beliefs and cultures.

Golu advised Nigerians to embrace the virtue of being each other’s keeper irrespective of tribal or religious differences, noting that such was the only way to please the Almighty and secure his blessings.

The lawmaker advised Nigerians to be wary of people working toward the disintegration of the nation, and advised Christians and Muslims to make it a duty to point out such elements so that they would face the wrath of the law.

“Clearly, there are people working to tear us apart. Such people live among us and we must treat them as enemies of the nation by quickly reporting them to the law enforcement agents,’’ he said.

Golu prayed for the Lord’s blessing throughout the Easter festivity, and also prayed for divine mercy and protection over the country.
