Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love and sacrifice as they celebrated Easter.
Atiku, in an Easter message issued by his Media Office in Abuja, enjoined Christians and all Nigerians to internalise the spiritual gains and benefits of the season for a better society.
He admonished Christians to emulate the exemplary life of sacrifice and unconditional love Jesus Christ showed to the people.
According to him, this is the only path to enthrone a Nigeria of equal rights, peace and justice.
“We need to promote love for one another, be our brothers and sisters keepers and above all make sacrifice an integral part of our existence.
“That is the only way the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross will make meaning in our own daily lives and the life of our nation” Atiku said.
The former Vice President, however, said that nation building called for huge sacrifice and fellow-feeling both from the leaders and the led.
“Nigeria will never realise its manifest destiny as a great nation capable of playing leading role in world until we begin to care for one another.
He wished all Christians a happy and peaceful Easter celebration.
