President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said that Nigeria would overcome its development challenges in the shortest possible time.
The president made the statement in his Easter message to the nation, which was made available to State House correspondents in Abuja.
Jonathan expressed the hope that as the resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies the triumph of light over darkness, Nigeria would also overcome its challenges.
He said Nigerians must? all resolve to set aside their differences and work together as one people to foster peace, harmony and security in the country.
“My message to the nation as we celebrate one of Christianity’s most holy days, is that we should continue to have faith in our collective ability to overcome all present challenges.
“We must also take our rightful place in the comity of nations as a strong, united and prosperous country.
“As people of faith, we must never succumb to hopelessness and despair.
“We must rekindle and retain deep faith in our shared vision of greatness,” the president said.
Jonathan said his administration would continue to give dynamic, purposeful and effective leadership toward the attainment of faster national progress and development.
He said his team would continue to put the greatest effort into achieving a positive transformation in the lives of the people.
He solicited the support, cooperation and prayers of Nigerians for the progress and well-being of the nation.
The president expressed sincere greetings to every Nigerian and in particular, Christians, on the occasion of the Easter celebrations.
