The last might not have been heard about the controversial Otokoto ritual killing in Owerri, Imo State in 1997, where 9- year-old Ikechukwu Okonkwo was brutally murdered by six suspects.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, yesterday granted freedom to three out of the six convicted of the murder charge.
Those released were Rufus Anyanwu, Ebenezer Ebekwue and Lawrence Eboh while Sampson Nnamito, Chief Vincent Duru, popularly known as Otokoto and Alban Ajaegbu were condmned.
It will be recalled that Chief Duru (Otokoto), the proprietor of Otokoto Hotel, Amakohia and five others have been in detention in a Port Harcourt prison for 16 years for their alleged murder of the 9-year-old boy.
Although details of the ruling are yet to be released by the court, LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the remaining three charged have pleaded for mitigation. ???
